Thankz

I thought this one would be super easy ... but it gave me problems all the same.  I had this beautiful paper left over from another project that was just screaming to be used and this was the perfect time.  The trouble came from the cut of THANKS.  I cut that three time with my cricut so that I could stack them ... but it slid not once (which I tossed) but twice (which I kept).  When I glued it down, you could still see the fold where it bent.  So I added clear glitter Stickles.  This picture doesn't do it justice really.  It came out great, even with the fold.

Baby's First

I needed a baby's first card and this challenge fit it best.  Using papers left over from my scrap book that I made when he was born (Mambi Sheets).  I layered it up with everything the challenge asked for.  Starting with white card stock and ran that through my cuttlebug with dots.  A bit of scallop on the side with baby blue card stock with my Martha Stewart edge.  I cut a couple of fun circles and the 1st with my cricut.  A bit of string and then stamped the Happy Birthday with white embossing powder.  Zip zap done.  Thanks for the challenge inspiration!!   This card is being entered into Retro Sketch

The Lady is a Bug ....

Loved loved loved playing with the water colors and the Fantastx Inks ... love that opal shine.  I stamped with my Inkdinkado winged stamp.  This time the lady bug.  Painting her in red water color.

I let her dry a bit since I had to do a retake on this one when the stamp ink smeared.  I wasn't as lucky as I was with the butterfly.  Oh well, lessons learned.  I then added the Champagne Ink over the red and let it burst into a pearl shine.  Love this stuff.

I cropped it down and cut some fun circles with my cricut using red card stock and then pierced all the tips by hand.  I added some black on black dotted paper, red dotted ribbon, a few white paper flowers  and pearls to complete the challenge.  Birthday card sentiment completes it for now.  Thanks for peeking.

I'm going to add a close up of the lady bug to see if you can catch that opal shine of the ink.

Butterflies fly

Hello,
Today I did a wee bit of water coloring.   I started with a butterfly stamp.  I first used my Stazon, but it appeared to be too dry so I switched to my Memento Black with hopes that it wouldn't run.
I let it dry really well before I started to paint.  After the colors were dry, I topped it with Fantastx Ink in Champagne Mist.  I just love this stuff and when I pull it out ... I just want to play more.
I makes it really really shine like you rubbed it with pearl powder.

Going with the colors of the challenge, I added this to hot pink and yellow card stock.  A bit of hot pink ribbon and a sentiment stamped with white embossing powder.

I added the sequins and then filled them with clear glitter stickles for fun.

All layered up

The last card for the evening was again totally inspired by a couple of challenges.

I started with the bit of green and gold dot paper that I found earlier in the evening.  I still had some to play with.
I cut a strip and rounded the corners and put it to the side.  With the mint green card stock I cut three flags as needed with the smallest of the three, I dragged that through my embossing stamp pad to saturate it and then coated it with gold embossing powder to heat set.  Put those three on the side.  I cut a narrower fourth flag and used one of those bargain bin stamps in my lucky finds --  I stamped the sentiment and then used the gold embossing powder there as well.  As directed: I stacked them all onto craft card stock and base and added a gold brad to it as well.

Tonight was fun!

I’ll need another night like this one to catch up and fill my card boxes.

Smooshin' goin' onnnnnnnnnn ....

Card number four for the evening (I told you I was getting busy) was all challenge inspiration.  Smooshing was the medium of the evening (giving my craft sheet and baby wipes a work out) This time I used lots of water and my watercolors again.  Starting with reds, orange and yellow and like I said lots of water I moved that color like a boss.  Heat set and went in for another dip.  Once that was dry, I went over with like colors and a very very wet brush with my Niji Pearlescent Set of paints.  I love how this came out – cringed at the thought of running it through my Cricut but I did.  I used my Luau cartridge and found a leaf pretty darn close to the one used in the challenge.  I cut three out of the watercolor and then 6 more out of orange card stock.  Stacked and glued to give them some depth and cut the little stems off to make room.  Glue them to a white card base and then I needed the sentiment.    I wanted to heat emboss on dark orange paper which I didn’t have any in my stuff … so I grabbed a bit of white and used my Tim Holtz  Spiced Marmalade Ink and ran the strip of paper over the pad to saturate.  Heat set that and then used my white powder and my Tim Holtz word stamp.  Boom, looks like I’m making a craft room mess tonight … If you’re not making a mess, you’re not having fun.

I would like to add this card to the following challenges if I may:

Flowers make me happy ....

Card number three tonight was very calming.
I stamped a daisy flower onto watercolor paper and grabbed my paints again.  I started with my opaque colors first for a base then I went to my opal set to give the petals some shine.  I needed to go over the outline a wee bit in some areas after.  I cut the paper to my base size and realized that my sentiment was way too big so I changed it like 5 times before I found the one that would fit and was the right color.   I went with a Dollar find rubber stamp from Michael's.  Yes Girl – I dig in those bins every now and then and find goodies.  I added some lime green ribbon also found at Michael's on sale.  ATGed it all together on a white card base and made me smile.  I think this one will get mailed this week.

Enjoy the Journey ....

Card number two for the evening, using various challenges for much needed inspiration,
I started with “smooshing” again.  This time I used water colors both my opaque set using greens and blues.  Let that sit to air dry a bit.  Then I pulled out some scraps.  I found a piece of mint green card stock that I ran through my machine and a dotted folder.   I also found a small piece of mint green and gold dotted paper left over from a project long ago.  There was enough to edge the pieces together.   I cut the frame to fit the watercolor piece and then stamped the wild grass image.  The sentiment is Tim Holtz and I used my gold embossing powder that I just love.  Grabbing my ATG, I stuck it all together in layers and tied a white bow for grins.  All adhered to a white card base which I’m thinking of changing now that I look at it.

A bit of craft paper ....

Ok OK ...
I know it's been awhile and I'm totally out of cards.  I need to make some time to catch up, but time is so very hard to find these days.  This is the first one out of the box.
It's all with stock on hand.  First using Tim Holtz inks, I smooshed Wild Honey, Vintage Photo and Spiced Marmalade on my work sheet, added water then added watercolor paper to the liquid  ... smooshed again and then again.  I then spritzed some walnut stain on top of that ... let it air dry over dinner.  I cut the circles out of the watercolor paper, craft card stock and black card stock.  With the left over pieces, I cut strips and then used a Fiskers border punch on the craft to give it that stitched look.  Stamped and white embossed the sentiment.  Adhered all of this to black card stock using my ATG and tied some twine -- finally attached it to craft card stock base ... sometimes one just needs that little push to get busy ....

I would like to add this to the following challenges:

Die Cut Divas: the new technique is 'smooshing'

Well ... it appears that I've come to that time where I've run out of cards and I need to jump in my craft room and get busy ... heading over to the challenges to grab some inspiration and push.   Here's to playing with my paper.
